Dothan City Commissioners say the bucks stop here.
The commissioners agreed to cut off funding for a personnel board investigation of Police Chief John White and his department.
The probe began nearly a year ago, after the resignation of Police Captain Jim Smith and has since been expanded to include a number of other unsubstantiated allegations.
Four police department employees went to court to challenge the scope of the investigation and personnel board members appealed the case when a judge ruled against them.
The cost of the investigation so far totals more than $80,000.
Tuesday, city commissioners said they've spent enough.
City Manager Mike West is conducting his own investigation of some of the questions raised by the personnel board probe and he hopes to be finished within a few weeks.
