PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) - A woman who competed in last weekend's Ironman Triathlon in Panama City has died.
Dorothy Barnett-Griffin was pulled from the water when she went under on the last lap of the event's swimming portion.
Dallas-Fort Worth television KTVT is reporting that doctors believe the 43-year-old North Texas woman slowly aspirated water.
It's not clear why she went under.
Barnett-Griffin was participating in the triathlon to raise money for the Journey of Hope Grief Support Center in Plano, Texas.
Her husband was also competing in the Panama City triathlon.
