Charles Woods died yesterday morning at Extendicare in Dothan.
Woods was known for his service in World War II where he suffered severe burns as a pilot.
In spite of his physical problems, Woods became a successful builder and real estate developer.
Woods sold WTVY television in the early 90's after moving the station to its current location in the Charles Woods building in Downtown Dothan.
Woods grew up in Headland, Alabama. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Holman Funeral Home in Headland.
Charles Woods was 83 years old.
