There's a lot of stress out there, and researchers say Americans are looking more to chocolate and tobacco to help get through.
A University of Michigan survey shows a slight drop in customer satisfaction with a wide range of products, including clothes, pet food and cleaning products. But the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index shows numbers are up for candy makers. And the ratings for tobacco products are at their highest level in four years.
One researcher says the public's concern about safety, the war in Iraq, the presidential election and rising health-care costs may have been contributing factors.
The index is produced by the Ross School of Business in partnership with the American Society for Quality and CFI Group.
