Five members of a Panama City gang called "Crazy White Boys" are facing murder charges for the fatal beating of another teen-ager this summer.
Investigators say 17-year-old Jeffrey Elliot was beaten with an aluminum baseball bat and robbed of $50 when he tried to buy drugs from the gang members.
All five gang members are charged with armed robbery and felony first-degree murder. The defendants range in age from 17 to 19.
The victim was found barely conscious near a boat ramp in Panama City Beacn and died two days later from injuries that included a crushed skull.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen calls the Crazy White Boys a "wannabe" gang because some of the 30 to 35 members claims affiliation with the Los Angeles-based Crips, dressing in blue as that gang does.
The sheriff says authorities believe the Crazy White Boys have been involved in many robberies, burglaries and assaults in Panama City Beach.
