EUFAULA -- The 1103rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion returned to Eufaula on Wednesday morning with the community welcoming them home.
The more than 60 members of the battalion deployed for Afghanistan in Mid-October to perform duties such as reallocating machinery to other units and back to the United States, as well as disposing of explosives.
Lt. Col. Winfred Payne said walking into the ceremony at the Eufaula Community Center allowed him to feel comfortable and complete.
"We had a tough, challenging mission," Lt. Col. Payne said. "I couldn't be more proud of our team; I thought this day would never get here."
