DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A 60-year-old Indiana man critically injured in a fight with a carnival co-worker died Monday after being taken off life-support in an Alabama hospital.
Michael Cowherd of Indianapolis, a concessions worker at the National Peanut Festival, received a severe head injury Thursday.
He was being treated at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Cowherd died yesterday afternoon after his brother told hospital staff to take him off life support.
28-year-old Michael Shane Westover, also of Indiana, has been identified as the co-worker involved in the fight. Dothan police investigators were still looking for Westover and filed a felony manslaughter warrant for him today.
Dothan Police Corporal Frank Meredith said a fight occurred between Woods and Westover. He said it did not appear that any weapons were used, but the assault was still under investigation.
Meredith said police were told the men had been "out drinking" earlier in the evening, but it wasn't clear why the fight began.
