A Dothan man charged with capital murder in the death of his infant son will go on trial next week.
42-year-old Tony Dent was declared competent to stand trial following a pre-trial hearing in August.
Prosecutors say he intentionally caused the death of 5-month-old Christopher Dent in April of last year.
Investigators say Dent took his baby to a hospital claiming the child had breathing problems.
The boy actually had suffered a brain injury and was transferred to a Birmingham hospital, where he later died.
Authorities say Dent allegedly caused the injury by throwing his son against a couch.
If convicted Dent could face the death penalty.
He's being held without bond in the Houston County Jail.
His trial is set to begin Monday before Judge Larry Anderson.
