One of his doctors says Christopher Reeve taught him two four-letter words: cure and hope.
Doctor Wise Young says he's "heartbroken" at the news of Reeve's death. Young says Reeve had an appointment to meet with him Sunday to get an update on the latest spinal cord injury research.
He says Reeve would be sad to miss out on the final weeks of the presidential race, which has included debate on stem-cell research that experts say could help people with spinal cord injuries to walk again.
Another of his doctors, Raymond Onders, says Reeve realized his life expectancy was limited because of his severe injuries. But Onders says Reeve always tried to do everything he could to keep going.
