Demolition will begin on an old trailer park along Alabama Highway 27 next month.
The work will pave the way for a new entrance into the Geneva Municipal Airport.
For safety reasons, the Federal Aviation Administration is prohibiting residential areas around airports.
Geneva officials anticipate filing condemnation lawsuits against two property owners.
City officials say the property is necessary to fulfill the FAA requirements.
Allen Collins, who lives across the street from the abandoned trailer park, says “Never any fear of planes. Everything now seems just as normal. I guess I just miss the trailer park that used to be out there."
Geneva will receive three-million dollars over a five-year period to do upgrades and improvement to its airport.
