The Wiregrass played host to a workshop helping inform others of a dangerous disease.
The 5th annual diabetes prevention and wellness workshop was held at the Civic Center.
Health screenings, educational programs about the disease and public speakers were just a few activates held at Thursday's event.
More than seventy thousand people die from diabetes in the United States each year.
Coordinator Diane Oliver says having the workshop is a good way to better inform the public.
“The speakers and the vendors and then we have demonstrations from Dothan Leisure Services, exercise programs, so we try to do a well rounded event,” said Oliver.
More than seven hundred people attended the workshop and coordinators are already working on next year's event.
