Hurricane Lili

Hurricane Lili is now considered a major Category 3 hurricane and is still gaining strength over the Gulf of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center said Lili's top sustained winds have increased to near 120 miles an hour. Additional strengthening is possible by Thursday's landfall in Louisiana.

A tropical storm warning remains outside that area, from Freeport, Texas, on the west to the Alabama/Florida line on the east.

Lili centered at latitude 24.8 north, longitude 88.9 west.
