Dale County Sheriff's Flap

Commissioner Terry Wallace claims the Sheriff's Department is misusing funds.

He said members of the Sheriff's Department are using the county's unmarked cars for personal reasons. Wallace also claims that the sheriff is giving officers too much overtime.

But Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon said that he has not received any complaints about the use or misuse of county cars.

Wallace's complaints were made to the commission but not the Sheriff's Department.

As far as overtime is concerned, Mixon said several years ago, the county commission put a cap on the amount of overtime deputies can receive.

The sheriff believes that Wallace's accusations are politically motivated and he is asking the commission to create an investigative team to settle the matter.

Mixon's opponent in the upcoming sheriff's race is David Daniel. Daniel said that he is being supported by Wallace.

Wallace claims that his accusations against the Sheriff's Department are not politically motivated.
