HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A high speed police chase early this morning in Huntsville left a man dead.
Police say Rodney Allan Ford died in the crash just before 1:00 a.m.
Wendell Johnson, Huntsville police spokesman said police responded to a domestic violence complaint of a man with a gun a little after 12:30 this morning. When they arrived, they tried to pull Ford over, but he sped away.
Less than half a mile down the road, Johnson said, Ford apparently hit a bump and lost control of his vehicle. The car flipped, ejecting Ford, who died from his injuries.
A police cruiser hit a small tree during the chase, but the officer was not hurt.
Johnson said police are investigating the incident and that it appears the officers followed proper procedures.
