Laci Peterson

A detective in Scott Peterson's murder trial says police considered other suspects, even looking into the possibility of a serial killer, before arresting Peterson.

Modesto Police Detective Craig Grogan is countering the defense contention that police concentrated on Laci Peterson's husband from
the get-go, to the exclusion of anyone else.

Grogan told jurors he searched a serial-killer database for patterns in the murders of pregnant women, but found none.

Grogan said he arrested Peterson in San Diego after two bodies were found in San Francisco Bay, out of concern Peterson would flee.

The detective said word came the bodies had been identified while he and Peterson sat in a police car. Grogan said Peterson lowered his head and removed his sunglasses. A single tear came out of his right eye.
