Construction crews are hard at work in Slocomb’s downtown district.
It is part of a 150,000 dollar sidewalk improvement grant recently awarded to the town.
The state monies' are earmarked to replace the century-old sidewalk along Dalton Street.
Portions of the cement have caved-in and have proven to be dangerous for elderly pedestrians.
Mayor Vickie Moore says the new sidewalk will be complete with lighting and other amentias.
The new sidewalk is expected to be completed within 60-days.
