The latest activation affects soldiers assigned to the 278th Chemical Battalion, based in Oneonta, and the 440th Chemical Company, with units in Vincent and Clanton.
The units will be deployed to Afghanistan.
About 60 soldiers from the 278th and 140 personnel from the 440th will provide security for military forces operating in Afghanistan.
The troops will report for active duty in mid-October.
