One of the largest area cocaine busts may be the end result of I-10 traffic being re-routed through a section of the Wiregrass.
During a law enforcement safety roadblock along Highway 84 in Elba, authorities say 33-year-old Kevin Martinez had bundles of powdered cocaine placed in a hidden compartment underneath his pick-up truck.
It has a street value of approximately $1 million.
The roadblock was a joint venture involving the highway patrol, Coffee County Sheriff's Department and Elba Police.
The San Antonio man says he was heading to Sarasota and said he had no knowledge of the drug underneath his truck.
Martinez is being held at the Coffee County Jail under a $1 million bond.
