Miss North Carolina

Rebekah Revels has at least a few more hours as Miss North Carolina -- but perhaps no more than that.

A court order naming her the state's reigning beauty queen expires Wednesday.

And a federal judge said he doesn't expect to rule on her demand for recognition by the Miss America pageant before the court order expires.

Her lawyer says he's seeking an extension.

Revels says state pageant officials forced her to step down in July when a former boyfriend surfaced with topless photos.

Runner-up Misty Clymer ascended to the throne at that time.

But, with the court order in effect, both women have been participating in preliminary events for the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

District Court Judge James Fox heard arguments Wednesday morning.

He says Revels seems to have a claim only with the state pageant -- and not with the Miss America organization.
