Florida Votes

The Democratic race for governor remains undecided Wednesday, but some answers may be coming soon.

State election officials worked into the morning to electronically tabulate votes gathered by new touch screen machines. The new gadgetry was supposed to minimize the types of problems seen in the 2000 presidential election.

Election problems were reported in 14 of Florida's 67 counties. The worst were in cities across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, which make up Reno's power base. The main problems were late opening polls due to late poll workers, missing voter rolls and machines that hadn't been activated.
