The Florida missing teenager who met up with a high-risk sex offender has been found safe, but the man is still on the loose.
The teen sneaked out of her house in Bartow, Polk County.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says 15-year-old Alyssa Frank has been found safe at a Wal-Mart in DeFuniak Springs.
The suspect, 46-year-old William Joe Mitchell of Jacksonville, met the girl on Myspace and cultivated a relationship.
Mitchell has 14 prior arrests on charges including burglary, aggravated assault with a weapon, grand larceny, bomb threats, extortion and offense or offer of lewdness and lewd and lascivious behavior.
He has several tattoos on his arms and fingers.
Sheriff Judd says Alyssa met up with him at about 3 o'clock Monday morning and was reported missing a little more than three hours later.
Alyssa told officials that Mitchell said he was going somewhere for about five minutes and that if she drew any attention to herself he was going to kill her.
“We are relieved that the teenager was found safe, however other children are not safe while our suspect is at large,” says Sheriff Judd
If you see Mitchell call your local law enforcement immediately, he is considered dangerous.
