Coffee County officials received good news from the nation's capitol.
The town of Kinston has been approved to receive a $45,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The money will be used to fortify the town's Community Center as a storm shelter.
The facility is located on State Highway 52.
By replacing windows and adding storm shutters, the building will be designated to handle people who have evacuated their homes during an emergency.
Three years ago, during Hurricane Ivan, more than 18-residents sought shelter in the building.
