Germany-based Soldier Facing Child Sex Charge in South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - An Army soldier based in Germany faces sex-related charges that involve a 12-year-old girl in southwest Alabama.

A federal grand jury last month in Mobile returned a two-count indictment against 23-year-old Benjamin Boyer for enticement and transferring obscene material to a minor.

In a criminal complaint, the FBI says Boyer and the girl, who lives in Daphne, began trading messages and photographs through the Internet. Agents say Boyer admitted sending nude photos of himself
to the girl and met her during a visit to Mobile in July.

FBI agents say their probe started after the girl's father found sexually explicit e-mail messages on his daughter's computer.

The FBI says it's unclear when Boyer will be returned to Mobile to face trial because he also faces military charges. He is assigned to 42nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
