100K Yellow Jacket Nest Found in Albany, GA

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- Albany residents are being warned to keep their distance from a giant nest that a beekeeper says is home to 100,000 yellow jackets.

Linemen for Albany Water Gas and Light discovered the nest this week.

The nest is estimated to be three feet underground and three feet wide.

The nest is behind homes near the Porterfield United Methodist Church playground.

The church's preschool students stopped using the playground because of the yellow jackets.

Beekeeper Dale Richter was planning to kill the yellow jackets soon.
