BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- One person has been killed and four injured during a gunfight in which a Birmingham policeman fired his weapon.
Police Sgt. Johnny Williams told Al.com (http://bit.ly/ORvrt0 ) that officers were called to a parking lot early Saturday morning. He said suspects were firing their weapons, and one police officer opened fire.
One person was killed. Another was grazed by gunfire and treated at the scene. Three other people were taken to UAB hospital.
The name of the victim was not released by authorities. It was not immediately clear who fired the fatal shot.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation was assisting city police in their ongoing probe.
