UA Student Center Says Anti-Abortion Display OK

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- The director of the University of Alabama's Ferguson Student Center is apologizing for ordering the removal of an anti-abortion display.

Reports say Student Center Director Carl Bacon tells The Tuscaloosa News the university should not have taken down the images of aborted fetuses and women who died after having abortions.

Bacon says the center's display policy does not prohibit graphic or offensive images and that the exhibit should have remained on display throughout the exhibit's scheduled dates.

Organizers of the display say the apology is an important victory pro-life activists on campuses nationwide.
