The Dothan Education Foundation announces Keynote Speaker and details for their first major fundraiser. The event will be held at the Dothan Civic Center on March 7th. Leigh Anne Tuohy, the real-life Memphis mom in the New York Times best-selling book, “The Blind Side” will be the Keynote Speaker.

The book was turned into a movie and Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for portrayal of Tuohy’s character. Tuohy is the adoptive mom of Michael Oher, who played football for Ole Miss and now plays for the Baltimore Ravens. Many are aware of Tuohy’s story but how the path was paved was not completely told on screen.

On March 7th at the Dothan Civic Center, she will tell her personal story of giving back, finding value in others and the power of making a difference with what you have. She will share her personal Blind Side observations from seeing Michael Oher for the first time to how the experience changed her as a person and the Tuohys as a family.

Tuohy states, “He had a much greater impact on our lives than we did on his life.” Tuohy also co-owns the design firm “Flair I.”

Her design work has been featured on HGTV and she has designed for such clients as Peyton Manning, Scottie Pippin, Isaac Bruce and O. J. Mayo.

Tuohy will be the keynote speaker for the inaugural fundraising event for the Dothan Education Foundation which includes the programs for Yes We Can Dothan! and Adopt-A-School! Dothan.

There are several levels for sponsorship and ways to support the event which will be held at the Dothan Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th. Tables (which include dinner), meet and greet tickets and balcony seating will be available.
