The Alabama Power Foundation awarded a Good Roots Grant to Abbeville to plant trees.
Good Roots is connected to the Alabama Urban Forestry Association to give funds to purchase trees for cities, towns and nonprofit organizations.
Abbeville received a grant for up to $1,000.
The city will use the money to add trees to their recreational park.
"We want to get involved in our communities this is just one way we can do that we love to do it through volunteer hours through out service foundation but also through grants where organizations and cities and towns can use those dollars to their own goals," said Michelle McAndrews, Alabama Power program manager.
McAndrews says the trees should be planted by next spring.
