SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Crowds gathered along the parade route
Wednesday morning as Savannah prepared for its 186th annual St.
Patrick's Day celebration.

The city bills its St. Patrick's Day festivities as the nation's second-largest, attracting hundreds of thousands of people.

Temperatures were in the low 50s Wednesday morning and were
expected to reach about 60 during the day.

Parade-watchers grabbed the best spots in the pre-dawn hours,
dealing with crowd control barricades put up for the first time
this year.

The celebration was started in 1824 by Savannah's early wave of
Irish immigrants.

It's the biggest tourist attraction of the year in Georgia's oldest city.
