Hillary Clinton Lobbys for Fair Treatment for Female Farmers
Clinton says female farmers are offered less resources than their male counterparts.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says if female farmers around the world are given access to the same resources as men, agricultural output could be increased by 20 to 30 percent and an additional 150 million people could be fed every year.
Speaking in New York City on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, Clinton said the United States is contributing $5 million to the Feed the Future initiative, which will focus on helping female farmers and closing the resource gap.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “When we liberate the economic potential of women, we elevate the economic performance of communities, nations and the world.”
She went on to say, "While we meet here in this beautiful hotel, nearly 1 billion people are suffering from chronic hunger, and in the Horn of Africa we are seeing the devastating impact of acute hunger and starvation. We’re also an international community sending a very strong plea to the group al-Shabab, which is continuing to prevent humanitarian organizations from getting aid to the people who need it, primarily women and children.
