WHITING FIELD NAVAL AIR STATION, Fla. (AP) - U.S. Sen. John McCain's son has received his "Wings of Gold" to become a Naval
aviator.
Ensign John S. McCain was among 16 helicopter flight schoolgraduates at Whiting Field Naval Air Station in the Florida Panhandle on Friday.
His famous father spoke at the graduation ceremony, which was closed to the media and public. The former presidential candidate,
Navy pilot and Vietnam prisoner of war said through a military spokesman he did not want to speak publicly because he did not want to distract from the graduates accomplishments.
