FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A South Florida man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing a man he suspected was sleeping with his wife.
As part of a deal with Broward County prosecutors, 46-year-old Ricardo Gutierrez pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder.
He had faced a possible death sentence if convicted of first-degree
murder.
Authorities say Gutierrez fatally shot 55-year-old Antonio Noisette in July 2009 in the parking lot of Memorial Hospital Miramar, where Noisette worked as a cafeteria cook.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, prosecutors revealed that Noisette -- a married father of four children -- had been involved in an affair with Gutierrez's wife.
