BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - A 911 caller is heard telling Polk County
dispatchers that a woman was beyond help when she was found dead in a bedroom after a lengthy religious fast.

Authorities said 55-year-old Evelyn Boyd locked herself in a
bedroom to pray and fast on Feb. 7.

Boyd, the wife of a local preacher, had only water to drink and didn't emerge from the room for weeks.

Her body was discovered March 5 when family members forced open the bedroom door.

The 911 caller told the dispatcher that Boyd "was not breathing at all" and "she has been dead a few days."

The 911 tape was released Monday by the sheriff's office.

The caller was not identified.

A sheriff's office spokeswoman said Boyd's death doesn't appear
to be suspicious.
