Officials say three people have been killed after two small planes collided over central Florida.
Levy Sheriff's Office Capt. Evan Sullivan says authorities were called about 11:45 a.m. Saturday when a woman in Williston heard what she thought was a gunshot and then saw an airplane upside down in a field.
Authorities responding to the woman's 911 call discovered a second plane engulfed in flames in a heavily wooded area several hundred yards away.
Officials say a single-engine piper and a home-built plane collided near the Williston municipal airport.
Two bodies were in the piper and a 73-year-old man was in the home-built plane.
The weather was sunny and clear and officials do not know what caused the collision.
