TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Department of Corrections has demoted a warden who headed a prison where children were shocked with stun guns during an event.
The prison is one of three where children were shocked with stun
guns during demonstrations for "Take Our Daughters and Sons to
Work Day" in April. Officials had already fired two people after the incidents; two others resigned. More than a dozen others were disciplined.
The department said Thursday that Indian River Correctional Institute warden Ricky Dixon had been demoted to assistant warden and transferred to the Okeechobee Correctional Institution on May 15.
No children were seriously hurt. Another warden who had been demoted subsequently resigned.
