On Tuesday February 7, 2012 Investigators from the State Attorneys office of the 14th Judicial circuit and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, served search warrants at two “internet cafes” located in Jackson County. The search warrants were executed following a recent Jackson County Grand Jury investigation into the use of internet time with sweepstakes cards that are played on computers, featuring casino type games. The law enforcement agencies have received complaints and inquires surrounding the adult arcades and electronic game promotions/sweepstakes. The search warrants were executed in an effort to further gather evidence to determine if these establishments were operating legally under chapter 849, Florida Statues. No arrests have been made but computers and documentation was obtained during the searches. This investigation is ongoing.
