A panhandle town celebrates the fourth of July with an inaugural independence day parade.

Washington county residents enjoyed a short and sweet parade that went right through the middle of historic Wausau. The patriotic event featured fire trucks, police vehicles and lots of candy. Many were pleased with this first time event.

"It exceeded my expectations, especially with it being the first and with a lot of people doing things with family," said Marlene Blount, a Wausau Council Member.
T
he Wausau possum festival will be the next big event in town. That celebration will happen at the beginning of next month.
