"Fast and Furious" Takes the weekend

LOS ANGELES (AP) - "Monsters vs. Aliens" only got to spend a
week in the top spot before being overtaken by "Fast & Furious."

The fourth installment of the "Fast and the Furious"
street-racing franchise sped away with a record April debut,
netting $72.5 million.

"Monsters vs. Aliens" took in a respectable $33.5 million.
The president of box office tracker Media By Numbers says

Hollywood's hefty ticket sales make it seem like "it's summer time
in April."
"The Haunting in Connecticut," scared up $9.6 million in the
number three spot, while "Knowing," was number four with $8.1
million. "I Love You, Man," rounds out the top five with $7.9
Miramax's 1980s nostalgia comedy "Adventureland," debuted at
No. 6 with $6 million.
