54th Annual Rattlesnake Rodeo Attracts Thousands


Most people usually try to stay away from snakes but that was not the case today. The Rattlesnake Rodeo in Opp was an event for folks looking to sink their fangs into a slithery experience.

Up close and personal, The Rattlesnake Rodeo attracts thousands to Covington County every spring.
Event coordinator Don Childre has been apart of the excitement for 44 years. He attributes the rodeo's success to curiosity.

"You get a little bit of an adrenaline rush. I always tell people that we don't grizzlies down here, this is one of the more dangerous things that you can do. We've been having snakes at this place here for 54 years and we having a bigger crowd every year," said Childre.

Country singer Easton Corbin headlines Saturday night’s entertainment. He takes the stage at 8pm.
