If you plan on traveling in downtown Dothan during the U.S. China Manufacturing Symposium, you may want to take note of some restrictions.

Starting 6 a.m. Thursday morning, the 100 block of Museum avenue, down to East Main will be closed to thru traffic.

There will be an additional closing that day; around 5 p.m., the 100 block of North Foster street will be closed for International Foster Fest.

Dothan Police Department officials are asking people that park downtown for work or other business, have their cars moved before that time.

On Friday, the same closings for Museum avenue will apply.

Officials say safety is their number one concern.

"There will be additional patrols, the majority of those will be concentrated in the Civic Center, Opera House and Museum area. We're expecting a large attendance to the Chinese Symposium, so I'll have quite a few bike officers out just assisting the attendees get across the street, " says Lt. Todd David with the Traffic Division of the Dothan Police Department.

St Andrews street will be open, so drivers can still come in that way.

Officials are asking drivers to use extra caution because of extra pedestrians and bike officers that will be patrolling the area.

A couple roads will be closed during the U.S. China Symposium.

Museum drive will be closed completely.

Residents will still be able to get to the Civic Center thru St. Andrews Street.

There will also be a new traffic pattern once turning in Civic Center.

Attached is the diagram of the traffic pattern.
