Area police officers are reminding people what flashing lights mean.
Earlier this month, a Daleville Police Officer was side-swiped during a traffic stop. Police Chief Harvey Mathis wants drivers to know that when flashing lights mean slow down.
The extra time gives drivers more time to assess the situation and determine if anyone is on the road. If possible, motorists are asked to get into the right lane.
Mathis says the biggest hazard is people trying to see what is going on instead of watching traffic.
