The Wiregrass Lifesouth Blood Center is launching a new initiative that allows local students another opportunity to save lives.
It's called the honor cord program. The program will give a new honors cord for graduation to high school students that give blood at least four times. Coordinators believe that this will build brand loyalty with high school donors. It’s also another way to recognize and give thanks to those who give back in the community.
"This is our cord of courage, and it is for all high school that are sixteen and older and want to graduate with another honor cord,” said Beverly Holland, the Wiregrass Lifesouth Blood Center regional manager.
The honor cords will be red and grey.
