Leaders Head to South Africa for Mendela Memorial

Some of our nation’s top leaders left today for South Africa.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama along with former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter will attend the national memorial service for Nelson Mendela.

It will be held at a soccer stadium in Johannesburg on Tuesday. 70 heads of state and 10 former heads of state are expected to attend.

Mandela died on Thursday, Dec. 5, he was 95-years-old. He will be laid to rest with a state funeral on Dec. 15 in his home village.
