New equipment is on the way to the Dothan Fire Department.
Homeland Security is awarding a $35,000 grant to the water, hazmat and rescue squads. On Thursday, the Houston County Commissioners talked about how the money would be spent.
Fire Department leaders say this grant will help them respond in Dothan and beyond.
“When the tornadoes hit Enterprise High School, the heavy rescue team deployed from Dothan to the City of Enterprise and helped recover the students from the school,” said Steve Carlisle, EMA Director.
Commissioners hope to accept the grant money at their next meeting on Monday.
