Beyonce gave her fans an early Christmas present with the release of a surprise album, and in typical Queen B fashion, she is back on top.
Billboard says the album is “all but guaranteed a number one debut” when the final tally is in. Itunes says the album has already set some records. It is the fastest selling album ever worldwide on its site, selling nearly 829,000 albums in its first three days.
It also broke Itune’s first week sales record in the U.S. with more than 6,000 copies sold.
Beyonce took a unique marketing approach by not marketing the album at all. With 14 songs and 17 music videos “Beyonce” was released on Itunes with no fanfare or marketing push, just a social media announcement that it had arrived.
