TROY -- After a unanimous vote, the Troy City Council recently voted in favor of a law allowing the sale of on-premise draft beer sales. They have written a letter to the Alabama legislators and are in the advertising process. They will continue to advertise until March 8th.
They anticipate it will go before the legislature on March 11th.
Community members and business owners said they are thrilled for the possibility of selling beer from a keg. From their standpoint, the opportunity of draft brings in more profit because of interest and variety.
City of Troy Mayor Jason Reeves said the opportunity of draft sales is a priority to many businesses looking to move to Troy.
"It'll open the door for some franchises because that's one of the first things they ask, 'do you have draft sales,'" Mayor Reeves said.
