Churches say they hope they can provide a shoe box full of smiles.
They are doing it through "Operation Christmas Child".
"Scripturally we know that it's better to give than to receive and this is a small thing that can make an enormous impact, " says Jeff Burnett, Pastor of Ministry Teams at Harvest Church.
Samaritan's Purse "Operation Christmas Child" aims to send shoe boxes full of toys and necessities to children in need all around the world.
"We live in a country where we have so much and you think about just what we're putting in a shoe box, they're just little gifts, when they receive that gift it really is life changing and it communicates that there are people around the world that actually love and care for them," says Michael Lawson, Associate Pastor at Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
"My three daughter pick out all of the toys that they think another girl that's their own age would really appreciate and so then they take part in packing the shoe boxes and stuffing it and we pray over it together as a family as well. So it's really teaching our children the importance and the joy of giving to others, " says Burnett.
The gift of giving reaching much more than just the Wiregrass.
"It's a wonderful opportunity for churches to be involved, civic organizations to be involved, families to be involved and it's a great way to number one teach yourself and others about the importance of giving, teach yourself and others about the importance of loving your neighbor as yourself, " says Lawson.
"We love to bless the members of our community but we also really want to be a blessing to people around the world. And so this is just another opportunity that we can get everybody involved in blessing the people around the world, " says Burnett.
"It's amazing how god can take a little shoe box that we pack here and send that thing around the globe and in reality just change someones life forever. You'll feel like the one thats blessed at the end of the day, " says Lawson.
