A new non-profit organization in the Wiregrass is helping people with disabilities stay active. AMBUCS is a non-profit organization aimed at making sure people with disabilities can get around. A Wiregrass chapter just opened in Dothan. They have given out dozens of bikes to disabilities, changing their lives.
The families of children who have already received trykes, say once their children got their first tryke, they took off.
“They have really changed her life and made it to where she’ll never have to say, ‘Oh because of my setbacks and changes physically I can’t ride a bike.’ That will never be something she has to say and I love that,” said Elizabeth Godwin, mother of a tryke-owner.
AMBUCS is having their first fundraiser this Saturday. It will be at Mount Gilead Baptists Church at 7 a.m. All the money raised will go towards getting more trykes.
