Troy Hits the Road for Weekend Series at No. 3 Florida State

TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball is headed south for a three-game set with No. 3 Florida State at Dick Howser Stadium this weekend; first pitch for Friday’s opener is set for 3 p.m. (CT), while the remaining two games will start at noon (CT).

Troy (4-1) is coming off its first loss of the season Wednesday night in a midweek tilt at No. 26 Auburn. All-conference selection Brandon Lockridge led the Trojans at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance.

Sun Belt Player of the Week Matt Sanders extended his career-long hitting streak to 13 games dating back to last season. Sanders is batting .450 (9-for-20) in 2018, with three homers, 10 runs scored and six RBIs.

Senior RHP Andrew Crane (1-0, 0.00) will toe the rubber for coach Mark Smartt and the Trojans on Friday night. Crane is currently in the midst of a 44.2-inning regular season scoreless inning streak – 39.2 in 2017 and five in the season opener against UT Martin.

Rounding out the weekend rotation are RHP Daren Osby (0-0, 3.00) and RHP Rush Hixon (1-0, 0.00), respectively. Osby struck out seven in six innings of work last Saturday and Hixon went five without allowing an earned run to complete the four-game sweep on opening weekend.

The third-ranked Seminoles are led by one of the winningest coaches in college baseball history, Mike Martin. Martin is in his 39th season with FSU and boasts a 1948-604-4 record with 38 straight NCAA regional appearances. J.C. Flowers paces the squad at the plate, batting at a .429 clip with two doubles and three RBIs.
