(WTVY) -- The signing period for Spring Sports opened up this month and the Wiregrass stars are still putting pen to paper.
Headland shortstop and pitcher Chase Wilkerson signed his national letter of intent to Florida State University Thursday morning.
The senior standout his .437 from the dish in 2016, while also having a 1.41 ERA and a (7-3) record on the mound.
Wilkerson earned All-Wiregrass honors last season and was a Rawlings 2nd team All-American. The Ram did not waste time thanking the people who got him to this point in his life.
"I want to thank all the coaches at Headland, Andy Burress who is my travel ball coach and all the guys I have worked with, Mike Noles and Coach Heath," said Wilkerson.
His coach was also elated during the signing.
"It is special," said Headland Baseball Head Coach Seth Nolen. "You talk about Florida State and the history of their baseball program, to know that you have a player who is that good and that special who can play for a place like that it is really neat."
Back in Dothan, the Troy Trojans locked up the services of Houston Academy Raider standout Tanner Jackson.
The power hitter who can play the corner infield spots and outfield, was 1st team all-state in 2016 and 17 as well as an Under Armour All-American.
